Today is National RAINN (Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network) Day.
I don’t want to write a long post about this, I just want to bring it to your attention because it’s something that is important to me. I will give you some stats and tell you a little bit about RAINN.

RAINN Is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization.  They help survivors, educate the public, improve public policy, and give consulting services. They also help colleges choose sexual assault prevention programs, which I feel is extremely important.

If that does not make you mad, sick, angry, pissed off, disgusted, input whatever negative word you can think of, then you are part of the problem.

If you are a victim of sexual violence please reach out and get help. You can call and chat at 800-656-HOPE(4673) or you can go to their website and “chat now.”

If someone you know has suffered from sexual violence why not make a donation in their name? $0.93 of every $1 donated goes towards helping survivors and preventing sexual violence.

As for myself, I have been on campus since 7:20 this morning and have not seen a single thing about RAINN day. I am going to do some research to see if DVC has anything in place, might simply be because this is not a campus where people live. If there isn’t anything currently in place I am going to see if I can get involved and get something started.

Ladies (and gentlemen)!!!

I have someone for you all to meet!

I have talked about this woman a few times on my blog so you already know she’s an amazing woman, an awesome mom, a loving wife, a and an incredible friend. However, she’s adding something new to be proud of.

She has started a new Instagram account centered around being holistically happy and healthy, women empowerment, it takes a village to raise kids, you can still get your body back (whatever that means) after babies, it’s never too late to follow your dreams, being a stay at home mom or a career woman, girlfriends, strength, no limits… I think you get the point.

Literally, this is Micaela is a nutshell. She is one of the strongest women I know who only wants to see her friends and family succeed.

She posts great videos of her kicking ass in the gym, inspirational pictures, adorable pictures of her kiddo (and friends kids), and insights into how she’s constantly growing to be a better person. To top it all off she just went to Amsterdam and has some incredible pictures from her visit; who doesn’t like to live vicariously through our ‘friends’?

Josh Libman

Josh Libman

I have never done anything like this before on my blog but I feel this is worth it. Tyson, my husband, is friends with Josh’s sister, Kiera. She has had her own medical hardships and now her brother is going through hell; their family is getting one hard hit after another. Once you read their story I hope you are touched as I was. ❤

“This is my younger brother, Josh. Most definitely the most genuine, kind-hearted, giving person I will ever be lucky enough to know and call family.

He is also an amazingly active guy. Tennis and mountain biking and hiking are his passions in addition to my furry nephew, his German Shepard pup, Titan and playing with my kiddos. A lot. He plays with my kiddos for hours and they all think he hung the moon.

He has ALWAYS been there for me through the ups and more importantly the big downs. He never left my side and always helped out in any way he could.

He reminds me of my dad in that he makes friends everywhere he goes and you can’t talk to or hang out with the guy without smiling and feeling good.

Unfortunately, my bout with breast cancer last year was just the beginning for my family. My baby brother has been diagnosed with a very rare and very high-grade sarcoma. He has no choice but to amputate his left lower leg and go through several rounds of chemotherapy that is so severe they require you to stay in the hospital for five days each time.

My heart is broken; for the first time I can’t help him or fix it or put a band-aid on my little brother’s “boo boo” and make it all better.

He will need recovery, rehabilitation, chemo and more chemo and lots of chemo and then he can be fitted for his first initial prosthetics
approximately six months after his amputation. Hopefully. Praying.

I would love to be able to say that money doesn’t matter, that I can provide for him anything and everything that he needs. But money and the extreme cost of care he will be facing is our reality.

So, while I am not one to ever ask for help I do today. For my blood, for my family, for my baby brother. He would never want pity or special treatment but I am asking for any type of help you may be able to share.

Live each day in gratitude and kindness and above all, happiness.

Josh isn’t giving up and neither should we! Thank you for your support! ❤️

With all the love in the world,
Marsha and Lee (Josh’s mother and father), Keira (Josh’s sister) and every one of our friends and family who have shown their support!”

You can read the updates on Josh’s story on his GoFundMe Page

Please, please, please take a minute to donate today. The family appreciates every single donation, no matter the amount. Josh and his family still have a long tough fight ahead of them. Please, friends, take a moment to donate. Thank you, in advance!

Chloe & Isabel

So I am not one to normally wear jewelry but a friend of mine sells for Chloe and Isabel and I always see her wearing very cute jewelry that just adds to her outfits. I decided to take a look and I fell in love with so many different pieces. I ended up getting 3 pieces and I couldn’t be happier with them.

My package came quickly, which is always a plus because I hate waiting for things to come in the mail. It was packed so cute and made me feel really special. Another friend is having a jewelry party later this month and I can’t wait to go and order a few more things for my collection!!!

If you want to check out her collection you can here.

I ordered the Northern Lights Statement Necklace IMG_3010

Feature Friday – Baby Costs Money

Feature Friday – Baby Costs Money

Welcome to Feature Friday!

I am really excited about today’s post. PS today is her birthday so jump over to her social media and wish her the happiest of birthdays!!!

Darlene Dee is a SAHM to a two-year-old ToddlerMonster. (She is also a big fan of her two adult children, who turned out way better than she expected.) Darlene had those first two babies without the help of the internet but did a LOT of googling during her last pregnancy. Google told her that it would cost 245K to raise a kid; she decided to keep track of every penny at She can also be found on Instagram at , Facebook at and Twitter at

  1. What made you want to start blogging?
I love to write. I actually had a blog for YEARS called Some Like it Homemade but I didn’t know about hashtags or categories or anything technical at all. I just wrote things and posted them online and went about my day. I sort of started the same way with BabyCostsMoney. I didn’t really understand tagging posts until about a year ago. I have no clue how the first few people even found my blog. I should ask them.
  2. What is your favorite book/movie of all time and why did it speak to you so much?
From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E. L. Konigsburg. Have you read it? It’s a kid’s book, but it is the BEST kid’s book. A sister and brother run away from home and live in a museum. I always wanted a grand adventure as a child. And I thought I was smarter than most adults. (I wasn’t. I was just a dumb kid. But I didn’t know that then.)
  3. What did you want to do growing up and are you doing it now?
I used to say that I wanted to be an anthropologist. Mostly I wanted to travel to places that no one had been and just sort of be there. Anthropologist seemed to fit the best, career-wise. Getting knocked up at age eighteen was a curveball.
  4. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done and would you do it again?
I once lived in the woods for six weeks with a friend. Like, IN THE WOODS. We cooked over a fire. We washed our clothes in a stream. We pooped in a hole. And yes, I would do it again. But maybe with a different person. Or different people.
  5. Do you consider yourself a feminist?
    Feminist AF.
[This is her ToddlerMonster in the Tula at the Women’s March]
    the future is nasty
  6. Why or why not?
Feminism is simply believing that everyone is equal. Um, DUH. I can’t even be friends with people who say they are not feminists. They are either stupid or horrible and I can’t hang with either.
  7. What was the best phase of your life?
Now. This. I am living it.
  8. What was the worst phase of your life?
I wandered quite a bit during my twenties. I was fired by more than one doctor while trying to get my head straight. Yes, FIRED. As a patient, not an employee. I do not recommend Wandering Without Sanity.
