You probably heard that if you really want to change something, you have to go all in. If it’s a diet, for example, you should immediately cut down on everything that’s fattening, or if you want to stop smoking you have to quit cigarettes cold turkey. However, the key to success actually lies in starting small. Since one of the main goals in life is to be healthier, and you are trying very hard to achieve this but unsuccessfully, take a look at this article, as we will try to help you achieve this step by step:
We know it’s difficult to eat healthily…
…but you should definitely make this your number one priority if you want to live a healthy lifestyle. However, if you’re used to eating in restaurants or cafeterias (or God forbid only fast food chains such as McDonald’s), going on a healthy diet can be quite challenging. If you’re a newbie at this, make sure to eat at least one healthy meal a day – breakfast or lunch, for example. Eating a healthy breakfast is extremely important; as you will get all the vitamins that you need that will help you get through the day. Moreover, if you eat enough for breakfast, the chances of you being hungry in a couple of hours are very low. On the other hand, the most probable meal during which you eat a lot of unnecessary junk is lunch, so substituting the usual burger and fries with a healthy option can also be a good idea. Make sure to eat a lot of greens and proteins, and have a light dinner. Don’t immediately go on a strict healthy diet; start small.
Adjust not only your skincare routine…
It’s not only that your insides that have to be healthy, but your appearance as well. Skin is the biggest organ in the human body, so we really have to pay attention to its condition. That is why adjusting or introducing a good skincare routine is another must. Make sure that you wash your face at least two times per day – in the morning when you wake up and at night before you go to sleep – and use good face soap for your skin type. Moreover, use a moisturizer after each washup. You can use one for both day and night, especially if you’re new at this, even though they make moisturizers for day and night for a reason.
…but your makeup routine, as well.
Bear in mind that it’s only the morning and evening skincare routine that you have to worry about. We tend to put so much makeup on our face and skin in general, that we more often than forget to look at the ingredients and think about the quality. That is why investing in a high-quality foundation is the first step, as this is the layer that goes directly onto your skin. It doesn’t have to be organic (unless you want it to be, of course) as there are numerous high-quality foundations that are not organic but still won’t negatively affect your skin. Moreover, try not to overdo it with makeup. For daily events, you can use a bit of blush, concealer and lipstick, but make sure that they’re by a good brand.
Exercise bit by bit
We’ve come to the most daunting and difficult part of the healthy lifestyle – the workout. Yes, they can be challenging, and yes, it’s difficult, but if you really want to be healthy you need to incorporate a bit of exercising into your routine. However, you can start small here, as well. The first step would be to get yourself a gym membership – once you pay you will simply have to go there. Choose two days a week and allocate one hour for a training session, and start like that. Once you see the results it would be easier for you to increase the number of workout days. If you need extra help in this department, you can always ask a personal trainer or a professional to help you. Finally, once you make a habit out of exercising, it will come easier for you to go running every other morning.
Changing your life for the better and healthier doesn’t necessarily have to be a challenge. And don’t pay attention to those telling you that you have to turn your life around all of a sudden – rather, start small, be comfortable with the changes you make, and you’re bound to see results.
