Welcome back to another edition of Feature Friday! Today we have an awesome mommy who blogs at The Non-Adventures of a SAHM. I’ve really enjoyed reading Nadia’s blog and relating to the things she goes through as a woman and mother, but after having her answer these questions it made me realize we have so much more in common than I originally thought. Thank you so much, Nadia, I am honored you opened up to me and let me feature you today.
Check her out on her social media pages.
Here is a quick bio on her:
I am a stay at home mum to two amazing little girls who keep me busy all day every day! I am currently in the process of rebuilding my personality so that I am once again more than just ‘Mummy’.
- What made you want to start blogging?
I really don’t like talking to people. I am so anti-social that it gets quite ridiculous the lengths I will go to to avoid social interaction. Haha! However, I do feel the need to process my feelings and thoughts outside of my own head so a private blog was the perfect place for me. I used my blog as an online journal (hence the overshare on a number of posts) and have only recently gone public with it. I would have kept the blog private forever but I have had such great feedback from other mums who relate to the things I have been through that I decided to take the leap. Scary but so far it’s been really fun!
- What is your favorite book/movie of all time and why did it speak to you so much?
I’m going to do both because I can’t bear to choose between them. My favorites are really cliche but I don’t care.Favourite book – The Enchanted Tree by Enid Blyton. This book shaped my view on magic as a kid. I loved it so much that my cousin would make up stories for me and add family members into the story as characters. This really made the whole thing come to life for me. I have a copy sitting in my daughters’ toy chest just waiting for when she’s old enough to sit and listen to the magic unfold.Favorite movie – Dirty Dancing!!!!!! I could watch this movie every day for the rest of my life. Who can resist the romance and the awesome soundtrack of this movie?! I’m a hopeless romantic
- What did you want to do growing up and are you doing it now?
I wanted to be a librarian. Books were my first love and I still adore reading. I resisted e-books for the longest time because I’m a purist but now I love the convenience of reading wherever I am. I still kinda want to be a librarian…maybe one day.
- What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done and would you do it again?
Sold our apartment and moved out with the family to another province just to add some excitement to our lives. I would 100% do it again. I think I have the moving company on speed dial 😉
- Do you consider yourself a feminist?
I actually don’t know what defines a feminist. I believe women deserve equal respect and opportunities but I won’t be burning my bra anytime soon. LaSenza is expensive!
- Why or why not?
My husband always says that I want to have my cake and eat it. And I always say what’s the point of cake if you can’t eat it?? So I want to be treated as an equal. I want to chat with the guys instead of being sent to the kitchen with the other wives. But I also like when my husband picks up the bill or opens the door for me. I want it ALL
- What was the best phase of your life?
I’m living it right now.
- What was the worst phase of your life?
The first four months of both my girls’ lives. I really struggled to adapt to motherhood and my hormones played hockey with my emotions. It’s the reason I won’t even consider a third child. I know I won’t be able to handle it emotionally.
