What if there were no racism?
What if there were no inequalities?
What would your life be like?
How would your life change?
What are you doing to make a positive change in the world around you?
I want to have an open discussion about all of this. Please be as honest and open as possible. I want to start a dialogue. People need to keep talking and in some cases, start talking.
To be completely honest, my life wouldn’t drastically change if there were no racism. I grew up as a white female in Utah, which means I had no issues with racism directed at me growing up.
I would have had a different childhood if there were no inequalities and everyone was treated equally but it rarely had anything to do with race and almost everything to do with religion. I also know that’s part of growing up in Utah and not being LDS.
However, I am worried about the challenges my older son might face being Hispanic. If you have been reading my blog for a little while you would have read Friday Morning Struggle. I’m still shocked racism happens at that age!
I hope and pray we work towards a better future as my children grow up.
How are you making a difference in the world? The way I am making a difference is by trying to raise my children with my husband in a loving home that does not accept racism or inequality whatsoever. I have also started researching what it means to be an ally and have been trying to talk to people from other races to get their perspective. I want to learn from them. I want to learn their histories, cultures, wants, needs, struggles, hardships, strengths, and wins.
